first blog posting
Hoy everyone,
Magnandan hapon. I am writing in my blog for the first time because my time for e-mails is getting short. So far I have been in the Philippines for about three weeks now and am starting to get a great tan. Our group started in Detroit Michigan, where we had a three day orientation. There is 80 volunteers in my batch 264. It's a very diverse group. We have four married couples, 4 volunteers are retired and over the age of 50 and the rest are young 20 to early 30 year olds ready to serve as a peace corps volunteer. I hope everything is going well in the states. I haven't had a chance to watch any t.v. but I did hear that the sonics took first place. I also read that we have a new Pope. Everything has been going well for me over here except for losing my cell phone on the third day. It's allright though I bought another one and am much more careful with it. After Detroit Our batch stayed in Manilla for four days and stayed at the Island cove resort. we met the U.S. ambassador and other department heads and we had alot of training seminars. After Manilla we went to Bayombong for a few more days had some more trainings and met our host families. I am now staying with a filipino host family and they are great. I am the oldest brother now. I have to younger brothers, Johsua who is 7 and Juluis who is 14. My host mom is Edith. she is an elementary school teacher and my host dad is a welder who used to work overseas in Korea but now he is working on the communities water system. I spend my days learning the language, going to the gym, hanging out with community members and meeting with officials of different ranks such as mayors department heads and other governmental members. It has been very exciting so far. On June 10th I go to my host site in Tarlac City. The cities population is around 250,000 people and the main language is tagalog. I hope to be proficient in Tagalog by the time I leave for my permanent site. I'll be working at a home for boys who have recently been children of the streets or abandoned by their family. I am looking forward for the opportunity to interact with these kids and staff to create a good working environment and maybe implement some new projects. that's all for now

Hey, Gorgeous!
Sounds like you're getting your Big Adventure. (Yay!) I like how all the places you've been to so far on your trip sound like Star Trek destinations. Romulus? Tarlac? Next stop Vulcan? Make it so, Number One. I'll talk to you soon...

Anyway, Yeah, Ellensburg rocks, actually, no it doesn't, that's a lie, and I'm sorry for lying.
Shaun fell into my TV, and then several times into the hall and other objects. Nobody cool comes to the house anymore. Nigel moved out, and was replaced by our friend Travis (he's a weird kid)Devin has owed me forty bucks for several months now, and in turn his motorcycle was stolen.
I hope your parents don't read this, or do I?
